A Niger Delta militant group has declared war on the president of
the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG), Igwe
Achese after he called on the Federal Government to engage the services
of a security outfit managed by some ex-militants to guard oil
facilities in region, if the bombing must stop.
The Adaka Boro Avengers yesterday issued a seven-day ultimatum to
all multinationals to evacuate the area. The group threatened that “there will be total War across all states in the Niger Delta region” if their warning is not heeded. The group said the call by NUPENG was meant to cause crisis in the region.
A statement by its spokesman, Gen. Edmos Ayayeib, read: “Avengers
to go on rampage, giving Federal Government and NUPENG to immediately
ask all multinational oil companies operating in the Niger Delta region
to evacuate our territory within seven days. Failure will lead us to go
on rampage with all NUPENG workers and oil installations.
