Man Who Threatened To Kill His Own Daughter After Raping Her Arraigned In Court (See Details)

A 52-year-old driver, Chukwuma Eze, who threatened to kill his daughter after he allegedly raped her, was tried on Friday before an Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Lagos State.
Eze, who is separated from his wife, forcefully had carnal knowledge of his 17-year-old daughter who came for holiday at his residence.
According to the prosecutor, Sergeant Raphael Donny, the offense was committed in June 2016 at the accused’s residence.
“Eze who resides at No. 2, Agbeke Close, Iyana-Era, Badagry-Expressway forcefully had carnal knowledge of his daughter and threatened to kill her if she told anyone.
“The victim’s mother was separated from her father and because of this, she stays with her mother and goes to her father for holidays.
“He took advantage of her and raped her when she went spend the holiday with him. After sexually assaulting his daughter, the accused threatened to kill her if she told anyone what happened,” Sgt. Donny said.
The prosecutor added that it was when the victim went back to her mother’s house that she revealed the secret and the woman reported to the police and the accused was arrested.
Eze, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of rape preferred against him.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. Davies Abegunde, consequently granted him bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
Abegunde then adjourned the case to March 22, 2017, while waiting for advice from the Office of the Lagos State Directorate of Public Prosecutions, (DPP).

Real Madrid And France Legend Raymond Kopa Dies At Age 85

Legendary France and Real Madrid attacking midfielder Raymond Kopa has died at the age of 85.
Kopa won three consecutive European Cups with Real between 1957 and 1959, as well as two Spanish league titles.
He was the first Frenchman to be awarded the Ballon d’Or, finishing ahead of Germany’s Helmut Rahn and compatriot Just Fontaine in 1958.
Capped by France 45 times, he scored 18 goals for his country and reached the 1958 World Cup semi-finals.
The president of the French Football Federation, Noel le Graet, said: “The passing of Raymond Kopa plunges the federation into immense sadness.
“It’s a terrible loss for French football. Raymond Kopa is among the legends.
“Everyone has and will keep in their memory his exploits which will remain unequalled. He was a player and a man of unique class. I send my most sincere condolences to his family and friends.”
Kopa joined Real in 1956, after losing to them with French side Reims in the European Cup final.
He returned to Reims in 1959 and stayed until his retirement in 1967.

MMM Issues Instructions To Members Ahead Of Resumption (Read)

On preparation for its expected return on January 14, the Ponzi scheme Mavordi Mondial Movement (MMM) promoters have issued instructions to its participants whose accounts were frozen, to perform “Promo Tasks: A New Tool for MMM Community Development.”
The MMM message to subscribers said the tasks, which should be done both online and offline, will promote the scheme and drive “traffic and participation” by the time the restriction on the account is lifted.
“Being an MMM member implies not only opportunities, but also a responsibility for the state and development of the MMM Community”, the message said.
The information raises hopes of the almost three million Nigerians who invested in the scheme, following the ban on withdrawals on December 3, 2016.
On January 2, the scheme on its official Twitter handle, @MMMNigeriaHelp disclosed that participants’ accounts will be unfrozen on January 14.
Some of the participants have taken to social media to give reasons why the scheme should return.

John Mikel Obi has become the latest ex-Premier League star to move to the Chinese Super League after his transfer to Tianjin TEDA was confirmed on social media.
A picture was shared on Chinese website Webo of former Chelsea midfielder Mikel shaking hands with a Tianjin club official and holding the club’s shirt.
Mikel, who had been frozen out of Chelsea’s first team this season with N’Golo Kante, Nemanja Matic, Nathaniel Chalobah and Cesc Fabregas ahead in the pecking roder, will reportedly earn £140,000 a week.
The 29-year-old underwent a medical on Thursday as he prepared to become the second player to swap West London for the Far East, following Oscar who has signed for Shanghai SIPG.
The Nigerian international had held talks with Valencia, while Marseille and Inter Milan also showed interest.
Mikel spent 11 years at Stamford Bridge after controversially joining Chelsea, despite appearing at a Manchester United press conference and posing with a United shirt with his name on it.
He is understood to have signed a three-year deal, after a successful spell in England, winning the Champions League, two Premier League titles and four FA Cups.
He played in pre-season with Chelsea last summer but then left the squad to win an Olympic bronze medal with Nigeria in Rio and has not found a way back into Conte’s plans since.

Riyad Mahrez Targets AFCON Title With Algeria After Winning Africa Best Player (Read)

Newly crowned African Player of the Year, Riyad Mahrez, on Thursday said his next target is to help Algeria win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations title in Gabon.
The Leicester City forward dethroned Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang as Africa best player at Thursday’s Glo-CAF gala in Abuja, after playing a key role in the Foxes’ English Premier League triumph, Goal reports.
While admitting piping Aubameyang and Liverpool’s Sadio Mané to the award was no mean feat, Mahrez is hoping to help the Fennecs conquer the continent when Africa’s biggest football showpiece kicks off in Gabon.

“I’m very happy to win it,” Goal quoted Mahrez as saying to journalists after receiving his award.
“Honestly, it was between two big players. It is never easy to win a big award like this.
“I’m very happy and very pleased; [I am not done yet ] as I just have to keep going.
“The next thing after this award is the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations. My team will try to do good things there.
“It is not going to be easy in Africa but it will be good maybe to win the title.”

‘You Need To Grow Up!!’- United States Vice President Joe Biden Tells Donald Trump

United States Vice-President, Joe Biden, has told President-elect Donald Trump to “grow up” and criticised his attacks on the intelligence community.
On Friday, Mr. Trump will be briefed on allegations Russia meddled in the U.S presidential election – claims he has cast doubt on.
Mr. Biden said it was “absolutely mindless” for the president-elect not to have faith in intelligence agencies.
Russia denied hacking alleged to have helped Mr. Trump defeat Hillary Clinton.
Late on Thursday, Mr. Trump questioned how intelligence agencies were confident about the alleged Russian hacking “if they never even requested an examination of the computer servers” belonging to the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
“For a president not to have confidence in, not to be prepared to listen to, the myriad intelligence agencies, from defence intelligence to the CIA, is absolutely mindless,” the BBC quoted Mr. Biden as saying in an interview with the PBS network.
“The idea that you may know more than the intelligence community knows – it’s like saying I know more about physics than my professor. I didn’t read the book, I just know I know more.”
When asked what he thought of Mr. Trump’s regular attacks on Twitter, Mr. Biden said: “Grow up Donald, grow up, time to be an adult, you’re president. Time to do something. Show us what you have.”
He went on to call Mr. Trump “a good man.”

President Buhari’s Wife Aisha Denies Abusing Privileges In London (See Full Story)

The Wife of the President, Aisha Buhari, on Friday distanced herself from any linkage to an alleged bleeding of the Nigerian High Commission in London.
According to her, she didn’t abuse any privilege of the High Commission.
The Special Assistant on Media to the Wife of the President, Adebisi Olumide Ajayi, disclosed this in a statement in Abuja.
She said:

“The attention of the Wife of the President, Hajia Aisha Buhari, has been drawn to a report in Sahara Reporters where, she was amongst other things accused of abuse of privileges at Nigerian High Commission in London.
“It is not in her interest to join issues with anyone or defend others mentioned in the report. It is however paramount to put the record in proper perspectives as it concern her trips to United Kingdom vis-à-vis the Nigerian High Commission in London.
“Aisha Buhari has never traveled to London with a large entourage as was carried in the report. The highest number of people on a trip involves her three kids, ADC, and her personal physician.
“The Nigerian Commission in London has never offered any favour either monetarily or materially to her or her so called entourage on any of her trips to London.”

She explained that the State House Abuja caters for her meal when necessary. Other healthy food and variety needed by her children are her personal responsibility.
She added:

“It is on record that the Nigerian Commission in London does not receive Aisha Buhari at the airport with any official distinction or privileges as was accorded other first ladies before her
“Her drivers are privately arranged without any recourse to the embassy for staff.
“She has never complained or raised dust about any of these acts by the High Commission because of the understanding, as clearly spelt out and practiced by her husband, that public office must be separated from the private lives of the occupants.”

Tekno Miles, Mr. Eazi, 2Baba, Simi | Here Are The Winners And Losers From #TheHeadies2016

The 11th Headies held last night and we won’t come here to remind you about the glitz and glamour because there was hardly any, to be frank.
It was an event that was attended with a variety of expectations depending on audience’s unique preferences. Some came for a street show that they hoped would feature Olamide, a few others came for the possibilities of another major showdown between two artistes at variance and many attended to actually watch their favourite musicians get rewarded.
Here are all the winners and losers from this year’s Headies Awards:

WINNERS

Mr Eazi: The Next Rated award category is all too important. Aside the car gift attached to it, it has its way of reiterating the winner’s strengths to the Nigerian music audience. Past winners of The Headies Next Rated awards have gone on to make major successes of their careers. Wizkid, Davido, Wande Coal, Omawumi, etc.
This year though, the contenders were YCee, Aramide, Humblesmiths and Mr Eazi (oh and Tekno, but he wasn’t interested so he got kicked out). Mr Eazi emerged winner and it was a popular choice as the audience expressed their agreement with loud screams.
Wizkid: He crept in late into the show, he got everybody’s attention, he smiled throughout the night, he watched in satisfaction and maybe even fulfilment as his protege and label act, Mr Eazi received his Next Rated award, then he was himself announced as winner of another important award, Artiste of the Year.
Wizkid won this award without too much effort. One Dance was enough. But more importantly, we think this win was more about his international influence than a singular track. In case you didn’t know, Wizkid is NOW an icon.
2Baba: 2Baba came on stage twice. First to present his tribute song to the OJB Jezreel, Nomoreloss and late Koga studios boss, Chris Jeyibo who all passed on in 2016. From the comments around us, his hyped up fans wanted him all over the place singing their favourite tracks but 2baba stuck to his purpose, he performed a touching tribute and it held us in awe.
Kiss Daniel: The biggest winner of the night for the Hip Hop Revelation of the Year, Album of the Year and Best R&B/Pop Album. Kiss Daniel is quietly taking over and enjoys massive love from fans. 2017 is set to be a bigger year for this star.
Why else does he win? He was on standby to pick up his own awards.
The live band: The instrumentalists and back-up singers were so good, it was hard for some of the performing artistes to keep up. Especially who have gotten used to lip-syncing to their songs in the name of performing. Great job guys.
The hosts: Adesua Etomi and Falzthebahdguy surpassed expectations. It was clear they had ample time to rehearse, they were out to have fun, they are both extraordinarily talented and were in sync.
The organisers made a great choice on this one and we will not forget Falz’s impersonation of Bobrisky. The work was done!
The Headies organisers: Apart from a few errors here and there and microphones that failed all through the night, the 2016 Headies was a good show. The stage was well lit, performances were on point, entry at the gate was drama free, the pre-event reception was good and there were more than enough volunteers on standby to attend to guests. They had branded Headies shirts on so it wasn’t difficult to figure out who to direct questions to.
LOSERS
Tekno: For disregarding the biggest and most respected award show in Nigeria’s music industry, Tekno Miles shot himself in the foot. There’s no denying that he has more than five successful tracks to his credit but those are not enough to cover for the influence artistes gain with and through the Headies.
If it wasn’t important, Wizkid would have called their bluff and stayed at home too. And to think that Tekno’s record label boss, Ubi Franklin was at the show from start to finish and even presented an award.
The Headies organisers: We totally understand that event sponsors are all too important but the number of times the organisers ran adverts got the impatient crowd super pissed. The ads were a waste of time and a total turn off.
Also, we didn’t get the memo that it was the throwback edition of the Headies so most members of the audience weren’t quite prepared for the oldies (Remedies, Ras Kimono, Jazzman Olofin etc) who showed up on stage.
Nigerian artistes: All of these guys need to do better by way of ditching their pride. We will never understand why Olamide, Patoranking and Illbliss snubbed the awards.
Simi: She was spotted on the red carpet but failed to appear on stage to pick up her award for Best Outstanding vocal performance (female). When she was finally able to grace us with her presence, she had a girl on her tail holding the train of her dress in place even on stage. Hello? No! If you’re not able to manage and control your dress all by yourself, how about you stay at home and learn or better still, wear something else.

Is It Truly Cheating For Mr. Eazi To Win Headies “Next Rated Award” Over Ycee, What Do You Think?

Twitter is going crazy since last night after the starboy Act Mr. Eazi was given The Next Rated Award.
A lot of people said it’s a cheat for Mr. Eazi to win over Ycee judging by all the hits Ycee has dropped in 2016, Some Tweeted based on the fact that Mr. Eazi comes from nowhere to take someone else shine.
Some people justified their position by saying Wizkid will not have been present at the event if not that he already knew Mr. Eazi is going to have the award.
If we should try to balance this argument Mr. Eazi also have enough hits to his body of works. As Ycee has ‘Omo Alhaji’ and Mr. Eazi has ‘Skin tight’ to mention but a few.

Food Is Ready!!! Vector Finally Unveils “LAFIAJI” Album Tracklist

Ace rapper and G.R.A.P Music front man Vector has unveiled the tracklist to his Lafiaji album set to drop on Tuesday, December 20, 2016.
It’s the penultimate day to the Lafiaji album release and Vector has showcased what his album tracklist looks like.
Lafiaji is a heavy LP which houses 21 tracks, excluding bonus tracks. The album has a long list of features on it, eleven in total. The line up includes J Martins, Falz, AQ, CDQ, D’banj, Tanzanian Vanessa Mdee to say the least.
Surprisingly, Vector self-produced 6 tracks on the album. Other production credits rest in the cabals of seasoned producers like Masterkraft, Johnny Drille, Mekoyo, DJ Embassey Liciouscrackitt etc.
The album release will be followed by the Lafiaji Experience concert set to hold on December 27 at Freedom Park, Lagos Island.
